There have been some developments with the Motorcycle Crash Causation study. Basically, DOT announced in October that the study was to be started, and MSF immediately said that they would not support the study as the number of crashes to be studied is too low at 300. All the experts agree that 900 to 1200 crashes need to be sampled to get decent results.
There is a page at http://bikesafer.com/petition.html to collect petitions from bikers to get the stakeholders in the study to reassess what needs to be done to get it back up to 900 samples. There is much more information, including the press releases at http://bikesafer.com/petition_resources.html, and a blog about it is at http://bikesafer.com/blog/index.html
The idea is to raise the issue with bikers and give them a chance to show we care. This will probably be the last chance in our generation to get a crash study done right.
